International Conference on Water, Environment and Health
Van - Turkey (YUZUNCU YIL UNIVERSITY)
May 20, 2012 - May 22, 2012
Leading scientists from Turkey, the USA and many other countries will gather to share the latest advances in water sciences with emphasis on sustainable resource management, ecological restoration, waste water recycling and health. The main topics of the International Conference on Water Su-Wave 2012 are Erosion, Flood and Coastal Pollution, Biodiversity of Lake Van, and water treatment using wetland plant species. Soil erosion is a major global environmental problem and not only Van and its close vicinity suffer from erosion, but also Turkey does. Flood and coastal pollution are also two important aspects that should be considered for a healthy environment. Biodiversity is a huge benefit for tourism development. As I aforementioned, Lake Van is alkaline and only one fish species (pearl mullet) can adapt this environment. However, Van and its close vicinity is one of the most fascinating environments with its biodiversity. Natural or constructed wetlands behave as wastewater treatment systems, using flow beds to support water-loving plants. The roots of these plants provide an aerobic environment to insistently break down contaminants. For this reason, it is of great importance to protect wetlands adjacent to large bodies of water. In this conference, the above-mentioned topics will be discussed by very valuable scientists. We wish all the attendees an enjoyable conference and hope that they are able to take away some valuable information. We are very glad and proud to be part of this organization and very much look forward to your participation in the the International Conference on Water Su-Wave 2012. Prof. Dr. Peyami Battal

The 6th International Symposium on Space Syntax - İstanbul - Türkiye

The 6th International Symposium on Space Syntax will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, during the week 12-15 June 2007 and will be hosted by the Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture. The aim of the symposium is to bring together the scholars, researchers and designers from all over the world who are currently working on space syntax and related methods, to make and hear presentations of recent work, take part in discussions of theoretical and methodological issues, and explore directions for future inquiry.

Space syntax, originally proposed by Professor Bill Hillier and his colleagues at the University College London, has been used to treat spatial configuration as an independent variable in a variety of studies of the social functions, cultural significance and behavioral implications of built space, in contemporary and historical contexts. As a set of techniques for analyzing spatial patterns in buildings and cities, and an associated body of theories linking space and society, space syntax is now one of the most influential scientific movements in the field of architecture and planning.

IPC10 - the 2011 International Permaculture Conference
IPC10 - the 2011 International Permaculture Conference

The 10th International Permaculture Conference and Convergence (IPC 10) will be held in Jordan across September of 2011. Traditionally IPCs are held every two years and switch between continents. Past host sites have been Australia, USA, New Zealand, Nepal, Scandinavia, Croatia and Brazil. The last IPC, IPC9, was held in Malawi, Africa, in 2009.

Jordan is one of the most water-stressed nations on the planet - with low precipitation, ultra-high levels of evaporation, and little vegetation cover - and the people of Jordan are depleting aquifer water faster than it can be replenished. In short, Jordan, and other countries like it, is facing a very challenging future.
